It is a tool for daily life in modern society. It is a bulwark against poverty, and a building block of development, an essential complement to investments in roads, dams, clinics and factories. Literacy is a platform for democratization, and a vehicle for the promotion of cultural and national identity. Especially for girls and women, it is an agent of family health and nutrition. For everyone, everywhere, literacy is, along with education in general, a basic human right&#8230;. Literacy is, finally, the road to human progress and the means through which every man, woman and child can realize his or her full potential.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">&#8211;\u00a0Kofi Annan\u00a0&#8211;<\/span><\/p><p>&#8220;Memang tidak semua orang melek huruf akan menjadi dokter, insinyur, pemimpin masyarakat, atau lainnya. Tapi yang jelas, tidak mungkin juga mereka bisa jadi dokter, dan lain-lain, jika baca-tulis saja mereka tidak bisa.<\/p><p>Baca &#8211; tulis setidaknya akan memberikan mereka lebih banyak pilihan, karena hanya lewat pendidikan yang baik, mereka mampu bersaing dengan dunia di luar Papua, bukan hanya itu, mereka mampu menentukan arah pembangunan daerahnya sendiri.\u00a0<\/p><p>Mau, tidak mau, HARUS, karena modernitas sudah mulai &#8220;menggilas&#8221; tanah yang mereka tinggali&#8221;\u00a0<br \/><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">&#8211; Butet Manurung &#8211;<\/span><\/p><p>Banyak orang salah mengartikan tema literasi. Di masyarakat,\u00a0literasi\u00a0sering diartikan, terbatas pada tema bebas dari buta aksara.\u00a0National Institute for Literacy, mendefinisikan literasi\u00a0tidak sekedar bebas dari buta aksara, tetapi\u00a0sebagai kemampuan individu untuk membaca, menulis, berbicara, menghitung, dan memecahkan masalah pada tingkat keahlian yang diperlukan dalam pekerjaan, keluarga, dan masyarakat.\u00a0<\/p><p>Mengingat demikian pentingnya kemampuan literasi maka perlu menjadi prioritas dalam pendidikan dasar. Banyak manfaat yang\u00a0kita\u00a0dapatkan, jika memiliki kemampuan literasi yang baik. Kita\u00a0bisa mendapatkan informasi,\u00a0pengetahuan, memenuhi tuntutan intelektual, meningkatkan minat terhadap suatu bidang, dan\u00a0juga\u00a0mampu meningkatkan konsentrasi.<\/p><p>Menurut Lerner (1988:349), kemampuan membaca\u00a0dan \u00a0memahami bacaan\u00a0merupakan dasar untuk menguasai berbagai bidang studi. Jika anak pada usia sekolah permulaan tidak segera memiliki kemampuan membaca, maka ia akan mengalami banyak kesulitan dalam mempelajari berbagai bidang studi pada kelas-kelas berikutnya.\u00a0<\/p><p>Merujuk pada hasil survei United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) pada 2011, indeks tingkat membaca masyarakat Indonesia hanya 0,001 persen. Artinya, hanya ada satu orang dari 1000 penduduk yang masih \u2018mau\u2019 membaca buku secara serius (tinggi). Kondisi ini menempatkan Indonesia pada posisi 124 dari 187 negara dalam penilaian Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM). Melihat rendahnya minat membaca masyarakat Indonesia, ini akan berdampak pada rendahnya kualitas sumber daya manusia Indonesia yang akan menghadapi MEA (Mayarakat Ekonomi Asean) sehingga masyarakat Indonesia akan sangat sulit untuk bisa bersaing dengan masyarakat dari negara lain di Asean.\u00a0<\/p><p>Ini yang membuat tema literasi menjadi salah satu fokus yang kami kerjakan di sekolah-sekolah daerah yang kami garap.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gerakan Literasi \u201cLiteracy is a bridge from misery to hope.
